The Coherent EDGE FL brings together our long-standing leadership in laser technology with our expanded portfolio of high-performance laser components to deliver best-in-class fiber lasers with unmatched value.
Uncompromising Value and Performance
The EDGE FL platform leverages our decades of experience in designing and building fiber lasers. However, our new design is not just an evolution of our earlier lasers – or anyone else’s.
To offer customers the optimal laser, we started from a blank page with no assumptions about what a fiber laser “should” be. With the exacting market requirements of high-power cutting applications as our guide, we developed our EDGE FL utilizing the best-in-class technology needed to satisfy those requirements. And since we manufacture all the necessary components, we can achieve a level of supply chain resilience that ensures customers can always receive the high-quality laser they expect.
Value Optimized
There are two ways we maximize value without sacrificing performance. The first is vertical integration. Coherent produces all the critical components of our fiber lasers in-house. This includes pump chips, active fibers, and so much more. This enhances cost efficiency and ensures that we can maintain exceptional control over laser quality, as well. In fact, many of our competitors rely on those same high-quality Coherent components in their own fiber lasers.
Second, we employ advanced manufacturing techniques honed over years of producing high reliability datacom components in huge volumes at competitive costs. These methods allow us to Contract Manufacture our EDGE fiber lasers in our own established, large-scale manufacturing facilities in Asia. These Coherent factories let us benefit from our highly skilled workforce experienced in high volume photonics, supported by a well-developed supply chain and eco-system.
All this means we can make the EDGE FL with highly automated, datacom production knowledge that takes full advantage of Statistical Process Control to optimize cost and yield, while still delivering exceptional reliability with minimal unit-to-unit variation. This is our unique recipe for ‘Coherent quality’ to increase value for our customers.

From Lasers to Integrated Solutions
The launch EDGE FL products are available with power levels starting from 1.5 kW to 20 kW.
Our integrated packages – consisting of a laser and all new cutting heads, will also be available at launch. These packages leverage our extensive global applications knowledge in laser cutting, coupled with our experience in manufacturing process heads. The result is compelling OEM cutting packages that embody the same levels of performance, reliability, and economy as the EDGE fiber lasers themselves.
